Polaroid Swing: The Next Big Thing

July 19, 2016

Everything you need to know about the talked-about new app.

Polaroid Swing is a new joint venture between Silicon Valley start-up Swing and iconic photography brand, Polaroid. The app aims to re-imagine photography for millennials, by enabling users to create and share moving photos on their phones.

Images and videos swing into action when people tap a photo or move their phone. Before sharing snaps on Facebook and Twitter, users can choose from one of four filters, which have been created by Instagram's original filter designer, Cole Rise. Plus, there’s also a caption box which enables users to perfectly summarize their video art.

The main difference between Instagram’s Boomerang and Swing is the overall quality of the shots. A capture rate of 60 frames per second ensures that images on Swing appear a lot crisper and clearer than its social media rival.

Viewers are also in total control when watching a video. Users can can play ‘Swings’ as quickly or slowly as they like, swinging their phone left to reverse the flow of time to play the video backwards.

Chairman of Swing and Co-Founder of Twitter, Biz Stone believes that Swing is set to be the next big thing. 'Polaroid Swing has the potential to change the way we think about image just like Twitter's 140 characters changed how we think about words', he asserts. 'It's a genre-defining medium.'
