Instagram Improves Video Offering

Instagram is rolling out a new-look Explore page with a personalised video feed.

The next time you’re on the hunt for clips from LFW or a must-see beauty tutorial, discovering the content that you love on Instagram will be easier than ever before.

Dubbed 'Videos You Might Like' this new feature sources videos from across Instagram to create a series of dedicated video streams.

Instagram will recommend collections of videos to people based on accounts that they already follow and users that they regularly interact with. The “Videos You Might Like” box will appear at the top of the explore page and will allow users to scroll through a series of curated video posts.

Video content has been a huge focus for Instagram this year with the average time spent viewing videos up by 150%. As part of Instagram’s new video initiative the app recently increased video length by 45 seconds in order to give users and brands greater flexibility when sharing content.

With online video quickly becoming a key means for people to satisfy their entertainment needs, brands are constantly looking for new ways to engage audiences and create content with viral appeal.

In a recent blog post, Instagram explained how the Explore page will connect users with relevant content: 'Explore connects you to posts about your interests from people you don’t yet follow. The more you like, the better Explore gets, adjusting to your preferences and showing you more of the stuff you enjoy.'
